MEP Design and Installation – New Services
KNG were employed as the MEP design and installation contractor for the construction of the new state-of-the-art performing arts centre for the Grammar School At Leeds, to provide their students space to express their creativity.
The challenge was to connect to the existing plantrooms whilst keeping the school operational during term time and holidays to accommodate extracurricular activities in the sport centre. Limited space for services on the plant roof created a compact layout, where we showed our expertise in service coordination. An upgrade to the switchgear was required along with interfaces to the existing fire alarm system.
The design and installation incorporated the backbone infrastructure of a high spec theatre lighting system and a high-level natural ventilation system to the auditorium, both of which required working at height on the gantry and on machinery.
